I'm intrigued by "kosher salt" - I don't want to know how non-kosher salt gets produced...

Oh Dooogs, that’s a tricky one. Kosher salt is for “koshering”, or salting food. It has bigger grains that standard salt.

However, only certain kinds of salt are kosher for Passover, for those who are that observant.

(ah, I thought it might have been that kosher salt was mined, whereas non-kosher salt was extracted from seawater and potentially contaminated with shellfish :) )
