A buddy when I were a lad had an X1-9 - one of the dials (speedo possibly) went anticlockwise for a similar reason.

I think the Omata thing is a lovely piece of kit. Just not sure I'd ever use it.

Is there a technical reason why it wouldn't be possible to make a Garmin look the same via one of the optional faces?

Looks like a sexy wristwatch, not sure its what i want on my bike though.

i suspect it will appeal to people fully kitted out in rapha gear on a 10k Pinarello

I think I’d like it to be 2 clocks, side-by-side. Speedo on the right, odo on the left with elapsed time and height gained as insets. About the size of an Edge 500 (certainly no bigger than an 800) but orientated landscape not portrait, obvs.

seems like an expensive piece of nonsense to me. But then as Greppers mentioned on twitter, it probably would appeal to the helmetless, steel water bottle on the handlebar, woolen clothing, brigade

Glenn and I have been talking about this elsewhere (Genius of Love, probably). Thought I'd open it out (and hopefully get V'rap and el Bee's views).

Flat bars versus drops for commuting and touring. Discuss.

Good shout. I would like to add small versus full size wheels to the discussion.

I rode MrsC's commuter the other day when we were out with the school cycle group for their end of term beano and it was very comfortable compared to my bike. Hers is a Specialized Tricross which has a unique mix of road and XC drivetrain (105 chain ring and front mech, Deore LX cassette and rear mech). It claimed to be a cyclocross bike at the time we bought it but was soon blown out of the water by proper cyclocross racing bikes as they became popular and the sport took off. The stem rises and there are head tube spacers to lift the bars up which means that being on the drops on her bike is actually less extreme than riding the hoods on mine. It is a very comfortable and fast tourer with drop bars but I’ve wondered if flat bars would suit it.

16” presumably.

To put that one to bed quickly Glenn - as and when I get a flat-bar commuter-tourer I’ll use that and reserve The Brompton for times of need. 27” always trumps 16” in peace time.

A rusty lock-up/garage/hut in the grounds of the Hotel Bastardos, we are a small cycling club and yet also a broad church.

Pull up a chair, get a cup of tea and a slice of slightly stale cake and settle down.

Welcome to the old skool. Founded 2012.
