At least they’ve stated that there’ll be 8 water stations. I did fear that we might have to lug our own water bottle all the way round the course.

Does anyone know how accurate the mile markers are? I'll be using my garmin, but it's always a bit off, especially where there are tall buildings

spendap - there have been issues with some of the mile marker locations in the past, but generally they are usually relatively accurate. That said, Manchester is not the same as Canary Wharf or New York etc, and so I’d be surprised if there are any significant issues with Garmin accuracy related to tall buildings (it’s the 1st year we head into the city centre).

I've found the mile markers to be pretty good. There is just one point where I've found my garmin often plays up (on the "old" course), when there is a lot of tree cover. Can be disconcerting to be suddenly 10-20s over or under target pace with no change in effort level :-)

Does anyone have a GPX or FIT file of the correct new route to upload it on various services (garmin connect and stryd for me)?

Ingo, the route map on the race website and in the event guide isn't zoomed in sufficiently to be sure of the exact roads to be used (in a small number of locations), but my interpretation of the most likely route is linked in the sidebar. You can download a GPX from the Fetcheveryone route page.

A lot of long straight road down the A56. Going past the start at 8 miles could either be a big boost or a "back here again" moment!

I have just updated the route, as I noticed a probable minor error at ~16miles.

Rrunner, you can't actually see that far in front of you along the A56, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks nelly and jda. Seems like the garmin should be fine. As you said, its at Canary Wharf where it has played up before, but the mile markers in London are very accurate so you can keep track.
