Good news for those who haven't booked accommodation yet, Man Utd are away from home on the weekend of April 10/11 next year, so there won't be that additional demand for hotel rooms to contend with in the immediate vicinity.

That's good news re the football but, even with that, hotel prices in the area for marathon weekend seem to have gone up in recent weeks. I booked the Hotel Football by the stadium immediately after the October marathon date was cancelled. I just checked back and it's gone up by £100 now for 10/11 April.

For anybody interested, I've been told to expect news next week about how entrants can "earn" their medal & tshirt in a Manchester Marathon virtual event.

And if that doesn't interest you, maybe the 2021 race thread will (if you haven't seen it already) fetcheveryone.com/forum/greater-manchester-marathon-2021-61585/

If anybody is interested in getting a Manchester Marathon 2020 medal and finishers t-shirt, the info is here manchestermarathon.co.uk … yours for "only" £15 (or discounted(tbc) for those entered for 2021).

As everybody knows, I'm a big fan of Manchester Marathon, but I'm not a fan of this because:-
1) running 26.2miles over the course of a month is not a marathon.
2) IMO it is essentially buying a medal and t-shirt.
3) they're asking people to pay £15 for something that without this event the organiser would have been throwing/giving away.
4) the medal even has the April date on it!

Completely agree with you, Nelly. While I have some sympathy for the organisers under the circumstances, I think this is pretty meaningless and I certainly won't be doing it. Still, everyone to their own.

wow i agree Nelly. i have bit sympathy for organisers but no chance buying that. you get medal and T shirt for doing event on day. i like virtual events but only if not taking mickey. threshold sports did couple free things which did with my friends. good earlier in lockdown.

I did the Threshold event (Race to the Stones) and enjoyed it but their medal was ‘right’ in that it had ‘Virtual’ on it rather than the one they’d have given out on the day. It was free to enter and only cost if you wanted a medal and/or a teeshirt, which is pretty good I think.

Discounted rate is £8 (plus 40p booking fee), so it's not an outrageous price if you want a technical T-Shirt. Doesn't feel right to claim it for running 26.2 over the month rather than covering the distance in a single run though.
