Like some my garmin measured short at 26.0 miles but thats partly due to my starting the timer a hundred yards or so late in the excitement. I looked at the path it mapped on the map and it clearly got some turns wrong too.

I thought this. Actually I felt the finish came up on me quite quickly. However, as it was my first I never paid much attention to it.

Tell me about it - not b eing from manchester I thoguht Id be able to stagger back to wherever my father in law dropped me off before the race due to traffic restrictions and ended up lost, and hobbling around Sold Trafford.
Nevermind - probably helped speed recovery!

I hobbled into Pizza Hut. Their expression was priceless: skinny person inhaling the menu. Shall definitely be back next year. Macmillan are hopefully going to give me another place.

I was so glad I paid to park in the MUFC parking. I don't think I could have faced a walk and journey on the metro.

As for eating, I had a 4 hour drive home and couldn't eat anything or drink much for fear of being sick. Certainly not the best drive home I've ever had.

It is very weird then but I know if I'd finished Id just be thinking that it was short. I don't trust the Garmin completely of course but then I wouldn't expect it to ever underestimate the distance. It always as far as I know over estimates. This is one of the nuances of the technology as I understand it.

Hope you've all been enjoying your week of recovery. My quad is just about back to normal and I have managed a couple of runs pain free so onwards now to Edinburgh!

My daughter MADE me help her train on Wed. I was ok but felt the pinch. I have a Park Run tomorrow AM so we shall see. Can't say 5k is my fav distance but still. As I am off thie PM I did wonder about getting out there but I am trying to be good and accept resting is as important as training!

I've taken the foolish approach and had a hard club session last night. 13 miles in total with a 38.40 10k in the middle. Just hoping that nothing breaks so that I can get the miles in for MK in 3 weeks.
