Never understood why we go over the bridge. Pretty uninspiring part of the route

This article has a slightly more useful map: dailyrecord.co.uk

It looks like the course has been designed to go around the new Commonwealth venues.

I always have a good time at GSR, and I think the new route looks quite decent. I might do it to try and get my coupon on BBC2. :)

I like the look of the new Half route, it looks more city/riverside than before and might be a better lead up to the finish in glasgow green than round backstreets and garages.

I'm looking forward to it! It'll be my first half and will probably take me a million hours to finish, but I think the course looks quite fun. Two bridges, city sights to see, what's not to like? Apart from the doubling back on yourself thing. Not sure how that'll be.

I don't mind doubling back. Good chance to see the guys at the front on your way out.

Got an email today to say that the organisers of the GSR have extended the £4 off entry fee to the first 10,000 (previously 6,000). I'm wondering if they've had a poor response this year due to the change in date and no early bird.

I'm still toying with the idea of doing this as I live in Glasgow so no travel and accommodation fees and I normally do it anyway. It's one week after Loch Ness Marathon though which has put me off slightly. However, last year I did manage two half marathons, two full marathons and a 10 miler in the space of 6 weeks - just don't want to do myself in that's all. I just may be persuaded :-)

Had a proper look at the new route and it doesn't seem half as bad as I first thought.

I entered the half but want to change to the 10K - anyone know whether this is possible? I emailed the organisers two days ago and haven't heard back. There's no phone number or anything in the race pack.
