I usually do this every year and was expecting it to be on 1st September. I have heard that this race now has new organisers, the price has increased by quite a bit, and the date is now 6th October. Unfortunately no longer fits in with my plans as I have Loch Ness Marathon the week before, and very probably Liverpool Marathon on 13th October. Such a shame as I loved this race.

Anybody doing this?

Probably not now. I've run this about 13 or 14 times and it is (was) one of my all-time favourite races :(

Not if the price has gone up significantly. IIRC, it was already quite an expensive event.

I'm disappointed too. They've been taken over by Nova International, which means it's one of the 'Great' runs just like all the others, so I expect the price will go the same way. And they've moved it to October which means it's no longer the ideal tune up for an autumn marathon. Apparently the move to October is something to do with trying to get it on TV, and the change in organisers is to increase numbers taking part.

The Neil McCover Half Marathon is the same day. Not far from Glasgow and a damn sight cheaper!

It was one of my favourite races as well and I also used to think it was an ideal tune up for an autumn marathon. Such a shame, doubt very much I'll be doing it now.

GLASGOW NEEDS A MARATHON.

The price hasnt went up by that much. They estimated £1.

Entry to the 10k is £25 and half is £30. The difference this year is that there is no early bird entry which makes it seem it has jumped substantially in price. However if you enter the Women's 10k and the Great Scottish then you get a £10 discount. The reaon they have moved it to 6th October is to get tv coverage and to encourage more elite athletes to take part. Its now run by Nova International (Bupa). The GSR will still be sponsored by Bank of Scotland this year but the Women's 10k is now called the Bupa Great Women's 10k (Ignis pulled sponsorship this year).
