Having done all the gret north runs, Manchester, edinborough & formerly the sunderland, earlier I tore the cartillage in my knee. I asked about deferring my place ( we had ll become members) and was told to hand in all the info to the booth beside the pasta party.
fast forward to this week , we recieved the usual emails telling us to re- book our places ( both me and my wife were injured) only to be told that the entrys are non refundable.
The hole thing is a fr####g rip off, we asked what to do, but rather that sell our places to other runners we noted that this was not allowed we handed our race packs in, if i,d have known this we would have walked the bl##dy thing.
The whole thing is a total con, we are absolutly disgusted about this its cost us £100
has this happened to anyone else?

it's standard practice at most races - deferring gives you guaranteed entry the next time but you still have to pay again.
The organisers costs are the same whether you run or not

Unfortunately, I think that this is what deferring means. Pay both years.

No more BUPA runs for our family then, ive competed for years and its the first time ive been injured. If it was £10 or so it wouldnt be so bad but at £49 each, it sticks in the throat big time

if we were aware of this we would have sold the places
on the bright side, I wont be supporting the outright commercialism that the BUPA runs are

It's not just BUPA runs - it's standard practice
