Be careful in Morpeth...I had a place with them through Nirvana and found myself in a hotel that had an adjoining disco which played loud music until some ungodly hour. This was 2008... I complained to Nirvana and got some money back from them. The hotel had previously mentioned to Nirvana about the disco but they had disregarded it. |

I think I know the hotel you mean. I believe it to be closed now. I stayed there once, but it was a stay unrelated to the GNR, so I wasn't too bothered by the nightclub.

Just gauging opinion; Do you think this event will go ahead this year ? First time entered and lucky enough to get a place (accommodation and transport booked too) |

I don't think any races will be able to take place in 2020 tbh, and am fully expecting all the ones that got postponed from spring to autumn to be re-postponed to spring 2021. The Great North 10k (meant to take place in June) just announced their cancellation recently and gave everyone a straightforward refund. However, with the GNR, I am guessing that if it is cancelled/postponed, places will be held over to the next event (whenever it may be) due to the complications with ballot/charity/membership places - similarly to the London Marathon. |

I think it's very unlikely given the mass gathering nature of the event that it will go ahead in its current form. Possibly an elite only race like the Tokyo marathon?

Quietly relieved and disappointed at same time but pleased to be able to rollover ballot entry until next year. May well now be my post big birthday bash.

Likewise, I've anticipated it was going to happen, but can't help feeling a bit sad about it, especially for anyone who was planning to do it for the first time or for whom it would be a really big A race. Plus all the charities that normally benefit.
