sebby - book accommodation as soon as you can as places get fully booked really early (like now). There are plenty of cheap alternatives around the time of GNR if you're looking for something basic. Never stayed here but I believe one of the Universities provide accommodation and there are several hostels around the area. Hotels and B&B's tend to charge silly prices over the GNR weekend so you may pay more than expected.

I can heartily recommend university accommodation, although there's less of it than last year and Newcastle Uni is renovating its halls.

Nirvana do have one university option available, though, or at least they did when I booked in December.

Or try looking further afield Whitley Bay, South Shields or Sunderland - all with good Metro and bus access.

Got something to say?
