Only 2 weeks to go!

Can't imagine the scale of this race, sounds huge! Does anyone have any tips for the day?

Not done anything this big before.

I'm really excited for this run, been looking forward to it for ages :) though a nasty sickness bug has messed up my training badly, so don't think I'll get the sub 50 I was hoping for :(

The race is HUGE - but it is organised in waves and only a sub-set of runners are on the course at any one time. It was my first ever race (2003 I think :-) ) Unless you are in the first wave chances are you will have some congestion on the route. There are large crowds of spectators and a great atmosphere.

Last year was the first year since 2003 that I didn't do the GMR - down to injury and and wanting a break. If a number is offered to me by someoen dropping out this year I will probably do it this year

Second year doing this and on their 10th anniversary. Its a good course and the crowds are fab. Looking forward to the City games as well.

My brother and his girlfriend are in the last wave. I'm in the second, and my mum is in the third. While it is good that they are all spread out to avoid congestion, it's not really the running a 10k together that we had envisioned- i will be finished before my brother even starts!

CS - if you want to all run together I think you are officially allowed to move back a wave and unofficially you can get into any wave you want because there are so many people milling about

Thanks for that, but to be honest I'm not all that bothered- they haven't done any training (don't think they've ever run even 5k before) and I still want to get as close to 50 as I can, so I'll take my rightful place in the white wave :p

JamieKai *chameleon*
*whispers it* Looks like I'll be running this one under a slightly 'amended' name...

Think I'll be in the white wave, answering to the name Paul ;)
