Hi HG, I got Salomon Crossmax for this very purpose recently as it's a few miles to the trails for me. So far I'm really pleased with them on and off road. I had Adidas Kanadias before and they hurt on the roads or used my Asics GTs off road where they struggled.

Until I can afford Roclites, my Adidas Kanadias meet these criteria perfectly.

However, if I only had a mile on road, I'd wear my Mizuno Wave Harriers.
