My Petzl has done me fine.

I remember a South African fella saying that he ran by the light of the moon because headtorches threw an unnatural light that cast shadows on stuff on the floor and made missing your footing more likely.

He ran into a bramble bush and nearly ripped his ear off during the long stage of the MdS.

Petzl Tikka's an awful thing - not enough light, seems to run out of batteries quickly despite what it says, and has an odd shadow in it, so it feels like you're running in Buddy Holly glasses.

Cavey - that's brilliant.

Mac - that's my experience, although, I liken it to running in a scuba mask. I shall now sing Buddy Holly medleys and think of you whilst running alone in the dark.

TMI ?

Just as I intended.
I have previously gone to take my glasses off when running with it. I have never worn glasses.

LOL. Strange the other thread didn't come up when I searched, but thanks to all.

Think I'll go with the LED Lenser H7R.

Not an ultra runner but I use a headtorch for kayaking, among other things. My Petzl was OK but it died after only light abuse and the batteries never lasted long. I then got a Fenix one which has much better light but I find it a bit too clunky and heavy. Search for the perfect head torch goes on.

I have the Lenser which is fab. And rechargeable. But you will need to recharge if you use it on full beam.

For TR, frankly, it would be great as you can almost turn it off on some bursts and use it full on in the woods.

But the Alpkit Gamma, for the cost, is almost as good, easy to sue and very very bright, buy three like I did and save cash ;-£

Thanks 2FF, I've gone for the Lenser, as I have no issue recharging after use, and also it uses AAA batteries as well.

Got something to say?
