Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Looks like 2hrs BBC highlights each evening, so that should do you?

Portrush is looking beautiful - my mum's a keen golfer, and she's marshalling on the 10th every morning, Sunday through to Sunday. A fella in the office here was there for Sunday practice too - reported that Tiger's looking old and stiff, not moving easily. But I think that's normal for Tiger these days.

Not sure the weather forecast is what golf fans would really like though. Looks like a little bit of rain, but disappointingly lack of a decent breeze.

I got my handicap through a few weeks back, 26 :-o. Really want to get that down. I'm sure (aren't we all?) that I'm better than that ;-)

Yep, that will keep me covered.

Good luck on getting the handicap down Paul. Course management will help alot at that level (at least when i went from 28 to 23 it did)

I found an interesting youtube page called golf sidekick. He's good as he's not trying to tell you how to swing without seeing your actual swing. His page is all about how to approach holes and to play the percentages and choose the right club. Does specific videos on breaking 100 , 90, 80. Really find these useful.

Not a great day for Rory :-)

My golf has been virtually non existent this year, as i was supposed to be training for something else, which has now sadly gone by the wayside too

Still there is always next year

Had my best round of golf (probably ever) yesterday. Went round in 84. Had quite a few missed putts too, so it could have been better. I decided to put the card in as a supplementary, but you're supposed to register the round as such before you go out. So I registered, went home, and came back 4 hours later to enter the card on the system. I should get cut to 18 some time this week! :-)

Tidy progress Nick. Wonder what you'll finish next season at? 14? 12? Better? :-o

I got five Saturday medal rounds done over the summer, a second and a win (on a non-qualifying day - lifting and placing) in my division. Getting steadily better. Only cut by one to 25 so far though, although the lift-and-place day would have seen another shot off.

Need to make an effort to get to the range a few times soon - I've got an invite to play Portrush on 9th Dec. Also need the weather gods to be kind-ish :-)

The weather yesterday was brilliant considering all the rain we've had recently, and the course was really good (greens were quite a bit slower though, hence the missed putts).

Just got my cut confirmation email to 17.8!

Good progress being made guys. I got a run of rounds in August and September and could see some progress just from playing a bit more. Wouldn't mind re-joining a club next year but imagine it wuld be another year before I would get worthwhile use of it.

Yes, it's expensive if you don't use it. I try and play every week and in the summer played a few holes after work a few times a month.

I'm taking early retirement at the end of the month, so hoping to spend more time on the course.

Yep, sounds perfect for you Nick.

I work away sometimes and have 3 young kids so it just becomes a waste of money for me.
Need to get my kids playing then i'm set :)

Afternoon all. Anybody still knocking the white ball about now it's properly shite weather?

(^) up there I said I had the invite to play Royal Portrush yesterday. We got *incredibly* lucky with the weather, and it was a glorious day. Links golf is a joy. And you can have firm conditions even through winter (parkland course where I play is going to be very sodden for 3-4 months, and will close now and again too).

Played reasonably nicely too, which helps. Drove well, short game a bit iffy on all those tight lies and humps and hollows. Total one shot better than handicap, so 96 for 37 pts.
