Phil I will certainly pray for you. Have you had any noticeable symptoms in your bladder function in recent months? (If you feel too sensitive to answer that in mixed company, then I do understand!) I have had prostate problems since I was about 60, but no cancer.

I honestly feel fine so I was quite surprised to get told about my prostate. I have no pain, no issues passing urine or any cancer-related symptoms. Still waiting to hear from the hospital about when my biopsy will be.

Interestingly, 80% of octogenarians have prostate cancer without knowing. As I'm only 50, I wonder how many men really should get themselves a blood test just to check out their PSA level too, however fit they think they are.

Thank you for your prayers and support. God bless!

Hi Phil,
Praying you can wait patiently and peacefully for that.

I think an elevated PSA may be more common than we think - I have a friend who spent about 3 months on tenterhooks after a regular check up because he'd now turned 60 and is a bit "worried well"), before the verdict came back that it was "normal for him" - and it was attributed to bicycle riding!

Ultimately we are in the Creator's hands. As I'm sure you know!

Phil, I have to have annual bloodtests, which always (so far) have been OK. I didn't have one last year, so I must ensure that I get one this year. Maybe it's a false alarm in your case.

Thinking of you and best wishes, Phil: I saw this article yesterday and thought of you (tl:dr seems to be that elevated PSA with no other symptoms isn't always prostate cancer) - newstatesman.com

Thank you, everyone.

My biopsy is set for 21 June and the urologist did seem optimistic when I spoke to him last week. There are other reasons for the raised PSA and he even said that the 4.1 figure (should be 2.5) may even have been exaggerated.

God knows the real reason and, if He chooses not to heal me Himself, He has given wisdom and skill to the medical team to identify and treat the problem.
