Little town of Greplehem
Hello.

So this year I 'did' New Daylight for the whole year. I liked it well enough but not sure I'd get anything out of another year.

Any suggestions? There seem to be lots of 'New Daylight-alikes' - Daily Bread, Day by Day with God, there's a whole bunch of 'em.

Any recommendations?

On my side of the fence I get the My Jewish Learning newsletter www.myjewishlearning.com

Obviously that's not going to cover all your needs, but much is of general interest, e.g.

The format is very New Daylighty, although I s'pose there's only so much variation on the theme one can have.

I read some of the William Barclay books many years ago -

Grep, I sometimes use the YouVersion bible/devotional plans. They have the advantage that you can set it up to get reminders (i.e. nags!) at a time of your choice. And switch which version of the bible you use.

Wide variety of plans too, covering most age groups, styles of writing and variants of Christianity!

(Glenn, there's a couple of "Jewish" versions of the Bible there too - the New Messianic Version, and the Complete Jewish Bible too. So familiar OT but probably nearer the original names and cultural references. It's quite interesting!)

Today's verse I was looking at is Isaiah 9 v 6.
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called Pele-Yo'etz El Gibbor Avi'-Ad Sar Shalom. (Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God/The Powerful Living Word, The Father of Eternity, The Prince of Peace.)

And "Shalom" wraps up so much more than the English word "Peace", doesn't it?

HowFar?
I have been watching a series of videos from New Irish Arts this week. They are doing one video a day all this week and they are well worth watching.

Here is the link to today's one.
