Went to see The Smile at Usher Hall in Edinburgh last week. Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood plus drummer and keyboard player. Top night out of music. |

Saw the Killers last night at Falkirk stadium. They put on a great show and we really enjoyed it. Whilst I prefer a more raw gig in a smaller venue there's something to be said about a massive singalong on a nice sunny evening.

Saw Kassidy at the Barrowlands the other night. Reformed for the 10th anniversary of their debut album, Hope Street. They were OK ... nowhere near as good as I remember them. Their 4 part harmonies were always a big selling point for me but sadly were conspicuous in their absence on the night. Quite good but not outstanding. Also contrary to a widely held opinion Barrowlands is NOT the best venue in the world. In fact it's not even the best venue in that 250 metre radius. Talking of which ... last night, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram just around the corner in St Luke's and he was great. It gladdens my aging heart to see Blues music being performed to such a high standard by young musicians like Kingfish, Blue Milk, Laurence Jones, Alex Hamilton, Samantha Fish and Black Cat Bone (amongst many others). The genre is in very capable hands.

The Blinders at The Trades last night. 90 minutes of brilliance. It may be premature, but "gig of the year"

My favourite live band atm. And in a venue that holds about 200.
