We're doing this on Saturday, really looking forward it. Unfortunately Mrs Smokefree's calves and lower back are tighter than my guitar strings and she got a numbness in her foot in last weeks race. We're going for starting at the back at keeping the sweeper behind us and see how we go - we adopted this tactic when we did the Imber Ultra (33 miles) earlier in the year and were in pretty good shape for the last third of the race. Obviously it's monstrously hilly and challenging terrain but after running Windemere in 4.45 last month and we were run/walking the last 10k I'm sure we can keep inside the 7h30m cut off.

Anyone else doing/done this?

Looks like it's going to be amazing, we're staying Friday night but have to head home Saturday, looking forward to some WI pasta and plenty of hills!

I did it last year (and the year before) - it is a cracking race. Great country to run through and a great crowd to run with.

I did it last year. absolutely brutal and one of the hardest things I've ever done, but so well organised and supported, and an absolutely cracking medal!

You're in for a treat. Gorgeous scenery, fab support, biggest ice creams ever, barn dance!Yes it's tough, but I really enjoyed it - one of my favourite events.

Can't wait, thanks all. Going to the Pasta Party on Friday but have to head home Saturday night. We've done some bloody lovely races this year and I reckon this is another belter. Mrs SF has been swimming and lots of massage and hopefully will get good rest for the next few days.

I think I'm looking forward to this. I have to dash back on Saturday almost as soon as I finish and this is one marathon where I am definitely not looking for a PB! I have decided to walk all the uphill bits ;-)
