I think it may have been a motorbike accident actually. But that wouldn't have given me an excuse to say chuckle-twatting, which is my new favourite phrase. |

I haven't run it. It *is* genuinely stunning coastline. If you're serious, ask on RW here - pretty sure some of these folks have: runnersworld.co.uk |

I did this one - 26extreme.com - last Sept. Is that the one you mean? There are a few events round there. Anyway, it was dead good. Stunning place. I can recommend a place to stay, and a good chippy

Oh lovely.. superb race. I'll dig out some photos.. I stayed here - bayviewhotelni.com - a little on the pricey side but really nice and 5 mins walk from the start/finish. Great restaurant and bar (roaring fire!) there too! Chippy - I think it was this one, the Flash in the Pan in Bushmills - tripadvisor.co.uk - just a short drive away from Portballintrae where the race is based. photo.. this is the beach at Whitepark Bay on the route - stunning! i298.photobucket.com |

There's a youth hostel at Whitepark Bay. It overlooks the beach. Fabulous location. hini.org.uk |

I ran the Half Marathon in the inaugural year. It's organised by 26extreme and they run loads of stuff and are pretty organised. It is a stunning piece of coastline as others have said. The race itself is great (although a fairly tough course) and takes in trail, beach, tarmac (only a wee bit), rocks, and running through the sea the year I did it. This piece of coastline is Northern Ireland's great tourist hope so there's a fair bit to do and see and lots of places to stay if you wanted to make a longer weekend of it. Here’s a couple of photos of it from the gallery (hope AlanR doesn't mind); http://www.fetcheveryone.com/gallery-showphoto.php?filename=14000_52693.jpg http://www.fetcheveryone.com/gallery-showphoto.php?filename=14000_51315.jpg If you decide to do it and need any specifics on places to stay etc, let me know |
