Any experience of Giant road bikes. Looking at the Propel, TCR or Defy and prob have up to 2.5k to spend. For what I do on the bike and ability should go for the Defy but the Propel just looks great. Have looked for 2014 bargains but hardly any stock about as think they sold so well.

Also will I really see and feel a massive improvement when moving up from a 1k bike ?

Any comments appreciated.

Why limit yourself to Giant?

The Giant endurance bikes have been massively popular. My colleague has been looking for one for a while and they are all sold out. However the new disc versions will be out soon, so stock levels may pick up.
As to the second question, it largely depends on the level at which you ride. It would hardly be noticeable on a 30minute pootle, but would add up on a longer outing.
If its just for fitness, then arguably a heavier bike will give you more of a workout than an easy to pedal carbon machine.

I also agree with Argento. Why limit yourself?

Winded
The LBS in the village next to mine says he can beat just about any deal on the internet for Giant bikes and offer better service. Does a fair bit of business with people who are not local too so you don't have to live here. You pretty much need to know what you want before contacting him but if you want to have an extra buying option look at chrisbikes.co.uk
I'd decide what you want and give him a bell but I notice he's offering a 2013 model TCR SL4 for £2,200 which seems like a good deal. That's a £3,500 bike.

Other makes are available. I have a Canyon Ultimate CF SL & love it to bits. It is a vastly different to my other drop handle bar bike - but then it has more gears and weighs 6kg less so it would. It feels very different to my other bike. For £2,500 at canyon you get a bike that costs more from most other sources - a lot more.

Whether you'd notice the difference depends on the bike you buy and the bike you already have (obvious but true) - geometry, stiffness & weight. It is easy to get excited by the nice shiny bike porn but really it is just a tool and like any other tool you need the right one for the job (or many bikes, of course).

Ride a Specialized at the moment and looked at moving up the scale in their bikes but their pricing seems to be completely fixed so no bargains around. Have looked at a few others and discounted some, haven't looked at Canyon so will take a look.

Thanks for comments.

Went for Giant TCR 2014 and love it but wish it would stop raining!

Specialized Allez Elite 2012 in 54cm on Ebay if anyone interested.
