Hi guys,
looked at the GFA times for London and see they have changed the qualifying times for my age group. I ran a 1:48 marathon in April while I was 40 but I am 41 in 2 weeks time. Does anyone have any idea if I will be classed as 18-40 or 41-49 for this marathon time? So frustrating being a couple of mins out for under 40's and a few weeks out for being 41!! :(

It's the age you will be on race day, not the age you were when you ran the time.

I knew they were up to something at VLM - they withdrew the GFA times last Wed, one of my Club members ran a 3:48 yesterday and in the old rules she would get GFA for under 3:50 - new rules zilch!!!! Damn

Thanks so much for this info and for Nelly directing me over here, I started an unlucky thread on VLM about this as I ran 3:47:35 as a 40 years + 1 month old yesterday. I assumed it was the date you ran it so I submitted a ballot place application today. Now I live in hope. Think I will ring them when the phone lines calm down.

Ok to clear it up for everybody I just rang them. You can apply for GFA status this year on the basis of what your age will be next year on race day. For example I am 41 next March, I ran a 3:47 aged 40 but the date of race I am applying for is the relevant date. Apparently free to apply. Won't believe it till I get the confirmation though.
