Thanks for the suggestion. Next time clearly hast o be a sh*t or bust gfa attempt. If that leads to bits of exploded mole somewhere along the second half of the course, so be it :) .

Though looking at your splits you may well have done a HM pb, before exploding in the second half?

Yes it would have been a half pb by around 7 mins.

I wanted to use this race to learn as much as possible. If I'd started with the 3.45 group I might have achieved it, but thought it was more valuable to see for how long I could sustain 8 min miles under race conditions.

As always,it went though a number of stages: Stage 1: “this is easy, I could go faster” (miles 1-5). Stage 2: “this is comfortable, but I'm glad I'm not going faster”. I was still in this stage when I lost the pacer at 12 miles. At some point stage 3 would probably have happened, having to work harder and harder to sustain target pace, which typically lasts 4-5 miles before I can no longer do it.

On this occasion my whole race plan was to follow the pacer for as long as possible. I was totally focussed on that and had not considered the possibility of his not being there. Another lesson learned. Once the pacer was gone I was surprised by how big a difference it made, I was mentally unprepared for it. It was more of a mental collapse than a physical one, which has the bonus that today I don't feel too knackered.

One week on from the mixed result at Nottingham I've just set a new pb of 1.42.03 in the hilly Basingstoke half. Still not enough, but a big step in the right direction.

Entered the Bournemouth Marathon 2015 with Goal A sub 3:15 GFA. 1st part of training is to get some speed in my legs and lower my 5k and 10k times. Next 10k race is Bournemouth Bay April 2015 hoping to run sub 40mins.

New half pb of 1.39.22 at Gosport today. So that's half way at gfa pace. Just need to keep going for another 13.1 miles.

Well 2016 is defo out for me but still want that GFA even if it takes me until I'm 80.

Starting to run again after a bad year due to injuries and have decided to try and change my running technique from a heel to forefoot strike in an attempt to run better. Has anyone on here changed their foot strike? If so, what are your experiences of it?

Been looking at the Pose method, anyone use this style of running? Any thoughts or advice on this and any other techniques much appreciated.

.... and how is everyone? Hope all is going well for you all :-)
