So despite the rumours in the past month or so, it appears VLM haven't changed the GFA times for 2017, as the caveat "Qualifying times for the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon are subject to change" that was on the page on Tuesday has now been removed virginmoneylondonmarathon.com

Also, interesting note regarding Manchester Marathon 2015 times.

If I want to take advantage of a GFA place in 2017 (based on a time that I have already achieved), I assume I should sit tight until June and not bother with a ballot entry in the meantime? Or... do folks normally place (and then give up) a ballot request in the meantime?

I've not done GFA myself (yet) Fergus, but everything I've read suggest that confirmation of GFA is almost a formality, so no need to apply in the ballot.

And for those so inclined the Championship start info will be appearing in November: virginmoneylondonmarathon.com

sLickster, IMO that link is just plain stupid... how are people supposed to know if they've achieved a "Championship-qualifying performance" unless they publish them? Or are people supposed to assume they're also unchanged?

Isn't the usual route that championships "borderline" runners simply apply GFA and then (given how few the champs start is in practice) get the organisers to swap them to a champs start place if they find they meet the championship start threshold. I suppose those qualifying on HM basis might be disadvantaged by this a little.

Nelly, Stuart Little - Thanks. Thought that would be the case, but it's always good to check!

Good to see the comment about Gtr Manchester times - almost smacks of common sense!

Sadly, I'm too inherently rubbish to achieve them... :-(

I'm assuming / hoping they publish the champs qualifying times when GFA opens as otherwise how do people know whether to apply for GFA. I've never before seen them remove the champs times which concerns me a bit that they are reviewing....
