Hi, I'm a bit confused on the gfa times. I'm 40 years old and I did the Brighton marathon yesterday in 3:14:16 seconds. Will this qualify for gfa or did I need to go 10 mins faster which was not going to happen yesterday Thanks |

London GFA? (other marathons are available) For a 40 year old you need sub 3:15, so you'd be in. They do like to fiddle with the times occasionally though. |

Thanks Lalli, So I'm reading Age 18-40 sub 3:05 Age 41-49 sub 3:15 So as I'm 40 now this means I'm in the 18-40 bracket and need 3.05? Sorry Oranj I'm still confused (ooh what others can I automatically get in?) |

Simonnew I had a look around generally and it looks like you need to be sub 3:05 at age 40. As soon as you have your 41st birthday you move into sub 3:15 territory. That's fepping frustrating!

Simon, as I understand it, it is based on your age on race day not your age when you apply/qualify... thus if you are already 40 then you'll be 41 before race day next year and thus you *only* need sub3:15... unless of course VLM change the goal posts, which is strongly rumoured may happen again this year.

its age on day of race not the day you ran the time, I know as that was crucial for my first GFA as it was 10 mins faster for the age I ran the time at As others said though, they may well tweak the reqts so keep an eye on their website |

Yep 100% based on age on race day. I was 40 when done 3:10 and got in for this year as turned 41 before the race. Not that I am running it as injured! Last year they said they had record GFA applications and they reduced the club places that are given out, saying that the majority of GFA runners also run for a club. I have also heard the rumours that they will tweak the times for next year however then are that, rumours! Well done on your sub 3:15 😀 |
