Bob!
$299 in the US, less than £200
£239 in the UK

Would there be a problem getting one in the US for UK use?

I have enquired from my friends - its the postage that will bump the price up - someone on USA AMazon was quoting £45 postage. Have just seen that the battery life is only 7 hours too on the Garmin

Import duty/tax can also be an issue.

I went down this route when looking at the 620 some time ago. Worked out £100 cheaper in the US but never saw one when I was in Vegas. Found a shop that didn't have stock but did have some online when I got back but the duty on it meant it would be the same or more expensive than the UK price.

Given the 225 is basically the 220 with optical HR, will Garmin be bringing out new running watches in the next year? That would bring the price down.

I fully expect a new 620 to come out later this year or early 2016 in line with previous releases. I think this is shown by the drop in price of the 620.
I'm tempted to hold on getting the 620 and waiting for the new one, but I'd still probably be reluctant to pay close to £400 for the new one; just as I was when the 620 came out originally...

I don't see how the new iteration of the 620 can use the optical HR if it uses the strap for the additional running dynamics? Will be interesting to see what they do with it.

My main reason against buying a watch with optical heart rate reader, is that you obviously have to wear it next to your skin. But in winter, when out with thermal long sleeve top and jacket, I always wear my running watch over the top of these so I can see it.

Do others not do that too ?
