I have the opportunity to replace my Garmin 610 which is a great piece of kit but which is dying: battery life is on the floor, the back is so corroded it has started deeply scratching my wrist. Interested in hearing the experiences of people that have used both the 610 and 620 - if money were no object (i.e. someone else is paying!), would you get a replacement 610 or go for the new-fangled 620. Why?

Thanks!

you can get the 620 for £259.16 from start fitness if you put garmin20 in the discount code. I don't know how long that code will be valid for though.

Although obviously that doesn't help you choose as you can use the same code to get 20% of the 610 :-)

And it's not a great answer to the question of "if money was no object, which would you get?"

If you're not too bothered about the new stuff like Ground Contact Time, how much you bob up and down when you run, live tracking, wifi uploads and you don't mind waiting around for the 610 to finally pick up a full set of satellites then buy the 610.

At least with a 610 you can rely on the reported pace to be reasonably accurate, particularly if you use the footpod.

The 220 is the 620 without the gimic features.

If so then I'd still expect the 220 pace and GPS accuracy to be poor compared to the 610.
