by putting your data into Sports Tracks, you can get your splits from that run in kms and miles, which should help you identify your new pb's.

But, of course, they are not real PB's TooLilac.
You only get real PB's when you run the distance.

it's down to how the various software 'smooths' out the GPS location data as most take the raw GPS data and work ou the totals themselves rather than taking the GPS summaries. The 305/405 aren;t technically accutate to more than a few meters (although in practice the degree of error is usually very low with a good signal) but to account for this the various logging solutions will smooth out the data, and they all use slightly different methods and parameters to do so.

On some sites/software, eg Sporttracks, you can control the level of smooting applied ot the GPS data (and HR, elevation etc). I always find that ST reports slightly longer than the garmin for 'wiggly' routes and slightly shorter for simple, straight ones.

Despite what the manual says, my 305 doesn't allow me to see speed.

It's on option on the PC software, but not on the watch itself. I can see pace on the display, but there isn't an option to choose speed. Have I got old software, and if so, how do I upgrade it. Or have I got a dodgy unit ?
