Just double-checked, and I'm glad I did! It turns out it was the Fetch server. The code that pulls in Garmin files runs once a minute. Normally it completes within about 10 seconds, and processes a handful of files - but there's a security lock, so that if it takes longer than a minute, the code doesn't run again until it's finished. The lock had failed to unlock. I have put a bit of WD40 on it, and the queue is now going down.

Cheers larkim. On my old non-gps (non-Garmin) watches I'd use a chest strap and afaik readings were instantaneous, though as they were not downloadable, that's just by keeping an eye on the watch. The first gps watch I bought had a strap, but unfortunately it was problematic, especially on battery life, so I have very limited data from that. I do sometimes wonder about a chest or arm strap, but it's faff-free not to use one and I'm unconvinced I'd gain much. |

Thanks fetcheveryone, I'm still waiting, but it's the first time in many years that this has happened, so well done!

Arm optical has a delay, the delay is a feature of optical Vs chest strap as I understand it. Chest strap is reading heart rate directly.

I did some measurements on chest strap vs a Tickr Fit optical armband a couple of years back, on pages 272-2 of the thread, and for the armband the measurements are very very close but delayed relative to the chest strap by a full ten seconds. I still find wrist optical unreliable even on the 2022-vintage Garmin Elevate V4 sensor (not tried the current generation as yet). I really wish I could run a 23 minute 5k at the HR my watch claimed last weekend! Page with those posts: fetcheveryone.com/forum/garmin-11517/271 |

I've noticed something weird with step count over the last few days. When I record an activity (walk) Garmin records the wrong number of steps - e.g. 500+ for a 4km walk on Saturday, 749 for 4.5km today. Yesterday when I didn't record anything it assigned 5,400 steps for an estimated 4.2km - this was just walking around in the course of my day. Any idea why the step count in recorded activities is so low? It only seems to have started happening in the last week or so. I'm not a slave to step count but am just curious! |

Which device are you using? I normally get 1000+ steps per km when I walk. I have a Forerunner 745. I'm trying to upload a strength session on Garmin Connect but it doesn't sync. Anyone else having a problem? |
