It's difficult to imagine that spending that little time at 13000ft is going to do much for my altitude fitness, but there you go. Heart rate peaked at 99bpm as we left the plane, that's me getting pretty excited, I guess!

I noticed today that recovery heart rate is now displayed in Connect, both mobile (Android) and on the web, for activities going back a couple of years. Possibly you’re all way ahead of me :)

Maybe, i have a fairly new watch, and i can see this metric after an activity, so it should work i think.

Might not apply, but some indication of one have to wait 2 min for the recovery HR to be saved.
Or something like that. And that makes sense i guess, i seldom wait 2 min to save the activity.

Exactly that. It's been around for a long time and I'm pretty sure the 645 logs it, but it's the rate change two minutes after the end of the activity so you won't get it unless you wait those two minutes before saving.
