Yup exactly, everything for a few years now picks up the time zone from the phone as you say.

Does your Garmin give you ludicrous suggested sessions? Mine quite frequently does.

Today's is 50 minutes with 8x2 mins @5:25. My last month's total distance was 11km. It's been months since I ran for 50 minutes at any pace. Probably longer since I managed two minutes at the interval pace. It's bonkers!

I also find since I bought my new Garmin .The suggested session bare no relevance to say my RHR,BB and HRV. For me recovery from a nasty bout of Covid it has suggested Tempo running or intervals.
Last week I managed as first week back 11 miles in total so this morning it suggested a 2 hour run!I managed 43 minutes :)

I just ignore my Garmin’s suggestions, although I do sometimes wonder what would happen if I followed its advice for a few weeks.

I don't follow them either. I might do an odd challenge that Garmin Connect throws up but nothing more.

The only time I get a stupid suggestion is when it comes up with sprints at a speed way above what I am capable of. Otherwise, it comes up with good suggestions, which I have been following for about a year now. I'd point out two things. Add races so that it can adapt accordingly. Secondly, keep an eye on whether a high-intensity session is getting crowded out due to lack of recovery - it changes its mind overnight and one can end up not doing enough high intensity. I quite often look ahead and do a session coming up so that harder sessions don't get forced out.

How do you look ahead? I'm just going by the daily suggestion. Also I have no races (only parkruns).

Possibly if Garmin didn't think I should run 5K in 27:xx, despite all available evidence, I'd have more sensible suggestions.

Today's suggestion - Threshold: 42 minute session, 3x6:00 @5:45. Aye, right.

An 11 mile run in the forest this morning in the heat, and Garmin said "recovery 3 hours"

On my watch at least, there are a few ways: Daily Suggestions has today, tomorrow, etc listed. I go into that first and it asks what activity I want to do it with(e.g., Run). The Race Calendar accesses the same place. Alternatively, select the activity first (run), select Menu, select Training, select Workout Library, select Daily Suggestions, select the day you want. Maybe YMMV?
