Thanks charity, no mention on the Garmin site of a footpod as an accesory for the 305. Further investigation required.

Does it work as well as the GPS on a run or does the wrist unit favour one device over the other? I've ordered a footpod off amazon for £30 incl p&p. |

I don't think it will switch automatically from one to the other unfortunately. The 405 will switch to the pod if it loses GPS lock but the 305 has to be set to one or the other before you start the run - it's really targeted to treadmill sessions and cadence recording on the 405. It might be fixable in a firmware release. garmin.blogs.com garmin.blogs.com |

It will favour one over the other. You need to get the 305 to recognise teh footpod - think you go through accessories on the watch (it did take me a while to get the two items to link). If you attach it to your shoe, you have a choice to switch it on or off - once on (the footpod will flash intermittently), if you then switch the Garmin on, it should come up with a message (can't remember what it is - the instructions should say). I usually only use teh footpod if I am using the treadmill at the gym. |

I thought I'd set up my 305 to give me the time of each mile I complete as I complete it, like my 201 use to. Instead all it say's is 'distance alert' but no time showing. Anybody any ideas. Cheers TJ |

Oops, typo: "it's really targeted to treadmill sessions and cadence recording on the 305", not 405. 405 will use GPS and switch to footpod if the GPS signal drops out, then switch back. TJ, it sounds as though you have set it to do distance alert (which beeps every mile) when you wanted to set it to do autolap (which beeps every mile (or whatever distance you set), shows you the time for that lap, and saves the lap times in your history). training->training options->auto lap and set what you want there (by distance, one mile by the sound of it) then training->training options->distance alert and turn this off, otherwise it will pop up every mile and spoil your view of your mile lap time |

Badger, thanks for that, I've just set it up and will try it out in the morning. Cheers TJ |
