Had you put the event into the calendar?

That sounds plausible - if you add a Connect calendar event from the library of events often someone will have saved the route, which I guess then becomes a trackable thing.

No, don't use the calendar. But it is almost if it's tracking location, seeing what's in the calendar for that day, and then populating the watch. Which would be both a bit dodgy privacy-wise but also rather clever and useful. |

There's a mode for that, adventure race logs the activity but shows no GPS data or route until you save it. Used it once on a nav course I wanted to log. But yes that is weird, flanker; when I've put races in the calendar it has picked up any route that is in the Garmin database for it, but otherwise never seen anything like that. |

I have noticed recently that if I create a plan in Outdooractive it syncs to Connect and my watch automatically where I used to have to send it to the watch. Not seen one pop up during a run though?

Thinking about it, I did, very unusually for me, add it to my race profile on Fetch. Can't see the synch being 2-way, but it's the only way I can think of that Garmin would know I was doing it. Badger Do you know how Garmin matches your manual entry in the calendar to the equivalent route it has in its database? It seems it would need to be a very fuzzy match. |

I think it's a Fenix 7 generation thing, but if you go into Training & Planning > My events > Add an event on the phone app and find an existing version of the race, it will bring the route along with it. If you don't find the race there, you can create it yourself and you can add a route file if you have one.

Which has the potential for disaster if someone has put an old or incorrect route on
