Three connectors, the strap has two. That said, I doubt the strap hardware would handle it. It just spots the R wave then sends the frequency as BPM plus the R-R times for HRV, not seeing it extracting the whole trace or being able to handle the continuous data rate, never mind how you'd handle measuring the potential difference to a watch that doesn't have hardware to measure voltage at back or front. I guess they could make a new HRM strap that could measure and send ECG, but that's pretty high data rates for ANT.

Steve - I'm tempted by the 955. Want multi-band, and a bigger battery than my F6s currently has. Also want to keep maps, so 255 is out, and F7 too expensive. There's probably going to be a 965 at some point this year with amoled screen (and maybe ECG ??) - amoled is nice to have on a day to day watch, but I dont see any great benefit during sport use, and a big battery drain, so I think 955 would be better for my particular use case.
Anyone heard of anything else new that's likely to feature on new models this year ?

If you're prepared to wait, you'll get the 955 cheaper although isn't it less than a year old? I thought the normal Garmin cycle was two years?

Garmin are already selling the 955 at 10% off, which some stores are matching and can get a further 10% off at Start Fitness via a discount code, so it's not too bad currently.

We did get about the equiv of 80 quid off the 955. She was very tempted by my Epix but she likes the lighter body on her wrist. I personally love the amoled Epix for maps and my ageing eyesight, and with the right settings I get enough battery. I hope a 955 with amoled doesn't come too soon! I will keep you posted with her comments.

Steve, strong rumours folk in retail that see upcoming products) that 265/965 will launch in next month. Some say just amoled upgrade, everything else the same. 100 euro increase

Badger points out that a chest-strap might not be able to manage the data-rate to reconstruct a HR wave sufficiently well to allow a diagnostic tool. Googling tells me this is 12.8 kbps. Nyquist theorem says you need to sample at double the frequency of the highest sine-wave frequency you want to resolve. If we use say 12 bits for the amplitude then in round numbers the highest sine-wave would be 500-odd Hz. I don't know what a fourier analysis of a heartbeat looks like or what is diagnostic, but with the spikes an all, there will be frequencies way above this.
