Read-only doesn't sound like a great solution for a recording device! Surely they'll replace f.o.c. if that's the case though. Looks like the 7 is imminent the way they are discounting. Expect they'll do the usual and put up the price another £100 for the new version.

I hope so, but the warranty ran out a couple of months ago so they'd be within their rights to say no.

What's the rumours on new features for F7?

Marginal :) Dual band GPS, maybe native power, some models with touchscreen and/or AMOLED but the standard power-light MIP screens too, and all still with 5 buttons. Better Solar in the models that have that.

The first two would tempt me, touchscreen that could be disabled would be nice for map scrolling but that's all, I value battery life over pretty glowing screens.

Thanks Badger - Scrolling maps is a real PITA so if they could do something to simplify that, then great.

Guys, I’ve got a Fenix 6X. What do you mean by scrolling maps please?

When you're looking at a map, you have to use a button to cycle thru choice of whether you are
a) scrolling left or right
b) scrolling up or down
c) zooming in or out
then you use other buttons to perform that function

Often you want to go left a bit, down a bit and in a bit - it's a lot of button presses compared to how a touchscreen phone works

Ah, okay, yes I understand. For some reason I thought you were talking about a feature where maps were auto-scrolling through screens that I wasn’t aware of!

The rumour I've heard is full solar across the entirety of the screen on the solar models, rather than the current mixed bag.

At the moment there's nothing I think I want. I'm even reasonably happy with F6x battery life ,, esp now there's the Suunto-copy power manager.

I'll probably change my mind when they are released 😂

fitness-tracker-test.info

shows an alleged leaked render mated up with a current 6x solar - so the ring around the edge is at least twice as thick. It isn't actually bright green, it's been highlighted to stand out. But the whole face giving 100% instead of most of it being 10% would be very nice.

I'm pretty happy with the battery life too, it is gradually drifting down but it will still go a full week with maybe 30 miles of running, and I used only 27% charge for the NDW50, so it's ample for any single event I'm ever likely to do.

I'm hoping it will get round L100 on a single charge without having to drop the sampling rate etc.

I'm too much of a wimp for that :)
Give or take non-linearities of battery meters, I think it should do that - realistically mine might be good for a little over 40 hours. I'd be inclined to switch off Bluetooth to help it along the way.
