A few pages back I mentioned how water and watches are not a good mix regardless of claimed water resistance, I think I detected some scepticism. These devices are not Rolex Sea-Dwellers and even the owner of these would ensure they were recently serviced.

I kept my 245 on in the shower this morning... but remembering recent posts on this thread made me a bit paranoid!

Though the VA4 does have specific swim settings so it's hardly as if Garmin are discouraging swim use with it. Pressing buttons whilst underwater is not recommended I believe. |

Jus' wonderin'... can anyone confirm that any training entries that have arrived in the last 2-3 mins have included the type of activity and the distance?

This is quite concerning, I also have a Vivoactive 4 and use it for swimming. Clearly Garmin know about this if they are happy to replace it, but it doesn't inspire trust!

Quimby's VA4 should not have failed being used as designed. Garmin have a list of water resistance which actually aligns reasonably well with what the Saint posted a few pages back (a little more generous perhaps): garmin.com Both pages say that 5Atm, the VA4s's rating, is suitable for swimming. The most common complaint I've seen about swimming-related failures is that the barometric altimeter packs up after a while (possibly chlorine-related, from some recent comments by Garmin staff on their forums). |

Sorry, finger fail ๐ I was going to say that makes sense, I guess the membrane used in the BA must be relatively delicate by necessity. |
