Any idea what's going on here? Both are the same activity but are reporting 5 seconds difference.

Pretty easy to me unless I'm missing something. One shows a 5k you specifically timed within a run, the other shows the fastest 5k in the run. Your km immediately after the run is 6 secs faster that your 5km average pace.

But presumably each of the "runs" in there was separated by a period of time of stopping? why would the watch add together two separate intervals (the 5k and the subsequent km, for example) to combine to a "fastest 5k"?

I could understand it if the warm up led directly into the 5k effort, with perhaps the last few seconds of the warm up being at race pace, and the final few seconds of the 5k effort being a fade.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't combine stuff. I didn't know you could hide rests/ recoveries in run summaries? If you can, it's still possible for those sections to have faster starts/ ends that change things a bit.

Aha, I misread the data - so that's a 13m12 warm up, a 8m01 cooldown with a single 5k in the middle? Does look like a bit of the warmup or cooldown has leaked into your 5k effort; you went off like a rocket I think, so maybe it's at the start?

Even on Fetch fetcheveryone.com/t-18638786 the benchmark is 19:35, so it looks like there was definitely a run of 5k in that whole session that only took 19:35/4 rather than the timed 19:39.

TBF I misread it as well. I thought there was a 1km immediately after the 5km but it looks like that's just the splits for the 5km. Speed at beginning/ end seems likely culprit not sure whether there's anyway to see the section that led to the benchmark anywhere.

Hah :-) I know :-)

The 5k benchmark on Fetch begins at 886 seconds, or 14m46s into the run.

That's odd then, as the period 32m57 (i.e. less than 19m35s after 14m46) (ish - as I can only see 25m splits) seems dramatically slower for a minute or so. If there was going to be any confusion I'd have thought it would have started earlier at about 806 seconds, where there's a series of sub 6min/mile 25m segments. Though perhaps as I can't quite see the same timestamps as you do Fetch?
