TBH the shape was so perfect that if it wasn't for noticing the random segment that I didn't run, I wouldn't have noticed.

Mine was shifted west by about 100 metres, looks like the old 2021 bug.

Badger, yes, mine's one of the power-hungry-but-still-works chips I'd be surprised if they generated two sets of ephemeris data, but the issue could be with the GPS firmware and how it sucks in the data file, which would most likely differ by chipset. |

When I started my activity this morning I noticed that my F6 had me off about 100m or so to one side. By the time I was actually ready to start a few minutes later (getting changed in a random car park) it had sorted it's self out. Lucky really as i needed it for navigation.

The files don’t even have the same name, so unlikely either that the format for different chipsets is identical. In the past at least with the SIRF chips they’ve been supplied by the manufacturer of the chip. Chip licensing costs appeared to vary with how long an ephemeris file you received, so you had units like the Leikr which only loaded 6 hours worth of data. Should have been a brilliant device, but really wasn’t. Sounds as though other manufacturers using the same chip are having similar issues, though of course that doesn’t really narrow it down to firmware, file content, or a fault in the file format stopping the watch making sense of it (whoever may have generated it). |

Mice in the machinery as Murray Walker used to say when a number of F1 cars conked out in a race.

I have tried the suggested workaround to update the CPE, gave it 10 minutes - no deal. Forerunner 245 non-music.
