How much does that end up being? The 245 was on sale for £179 on Amazon yesterday, not sure if it was for a day only, but it may return this week even if it was.
The polar armband sale is for another couple of days I believe. I'm close to pulling the trigger.

245 is £250 from Garmin, less 30% = £175. Nothing in it, except perhaps faster delivery and no faff returning the old unit (although I doubt it has much value 2nd hand on eBay for example, and perhaps Garmin will recycle some components that would otherwise go in my bin...)

CW, Gobi - Did a hard reset last weekend, no luck there. It's only the S version, so the battery life has never been what I would call good.
Todays run, less than 3 hours, OHR and Bluetooth on, but no music or anything just paired with the phone. No ConnectIQ apps or anything running, no navigation, just map on screen and pretty much didn't touch it. Went from 99% battery when I started to 53% now.
It seems there was a map or software update that has really harmed it. Now when I start an activity and go to the map screen it is just grey, doesn't show anything. After 10-15 seconds the map appears. Same happens if I try and zoom in or out, the map disappears and I have to wait for a while for it to show up again.
Realistically, I can't complain too much. I won it in a raffle 1.5 years ago and have used it as my daily watch since.

Sam, have you ever installed your own maps? Have a look under your run activity at maps and only have one active and see if that helps.

I almost bought the polar arm thing last night when I realised it has an optical HRM the same as my 730 which I don’t trust.
Hope it’s not a silly question but is the arm one just more reliable just because of position?

Gobi: Great price for Fenix 5 I bought one 2 months ago and love it.Battery life is amazing.
Looby: i am no expert on the arm thingy but know the optical HRM is flaky compared to chest strap.

I can't speak highly enough of the polar arm band one. I think the sheer fact that it is better positioned on a better part of the arm with a snug elastic strap makes all the difference, compared to the same device on a wrist built into a watch. 100% fault free, always get a fully reliable output.

All armbands are optical and yes the are more accurate due to position. In theory, a watch would be more accurate in the same positions as well.
This all reminds me that I was supposed to test my watch on the inside of my wrist to see if accuracy was better.

Much more blood flow further up the arm, especially when it’s cold, and the tighter more elastic straps stop them moving around so less noise and no chance of cadence lock.
