I've only just realise that when I look at my 245 music (without pressing the top left hand button) it illuminates anyway :-o

If it's the Gesture feature as in the Fenix then you can switch that off if you want to preserve battery life - within Settings, under Backlight, look for Gesture
With Fenix you can also differentiate how you want it to work between "normal" use and within an activity

All cool stuff :-)

I want to thank Flanker and Badger for being ever so helpful when I had issue with my Run HRM strap.I found if I run the sensor under the tap before a run I had no issues.

What i did find interesting was as I sprained ankle and first run was yesterday and unsure if I could run I use optical HR and had me at 152 av pace this was a very easy run as I was gingerly running. My normal HR average is around 130-135 and I was no way feeling it that high.

Today I planned same run but with strap average HR 132 and I was a wee bit faster but not by much.

Also do the RUN HRM strap have a battery to change? or is it one of those use 500 times and you have to buy new?

HOD that as the guys have said have been around for a while as both 230 and 735 had this feature which is handy when running in the dark.

Whenever I question the optical data and use a chest strap for the next runs and/or wear two watches I get very similar results, close enough to be a solid meh.

Remind me TS, which watch? One of the Forerunners? I have the impression there are fewer complaints about ohr on them versus the heavier Fenix watches.

Picked up one of the Nitecore torches you were recommending in the head torch thread. Impressed. Shame the race I bought it for isn't happening, but there you are.

The run-hrm uses a bog standard CR2032* battery, that is reasonably easily changed. Always the first thing to try if results get erratic.

* or some variant thereof - I always get it wrong!

Yep, CR2032. I find straps only last for 3 or 4 battery changes though.

Likewise. The seal on the battery compartment isn't all that robust(!) and I suspect it doesn't always seal properly after a change and then moisture gets in and ...
