OK, so you run two laps (presumably to a defined start / stop point, i.e. the finish line?), and then thereafter if you start part way around it does its best to work out where that ought to be on a track? OK, sounds sensible enough. Obviously if it doesn't "really" know where you are starting a given rep from it's only as good as its estimation, but I suppose if it is "snapping" you to a likely spot each time you'll gain some consistency.

Be interesting to see that in action in a race like a 3000m.

Yes, that's how I think it works. Tell it you're in lane 1, it picks up a GPS point and says because you said you're in lane 1 you must actual be at this point not where the GPS point says. Hence the map looking so pristine!

Yes, would be very interesting to see how it works in a race (would probably be 1500 on 4 Oct). My issue will be how I calibrate before the race, unless there's a big gap with no track action or I'm in an early event so it hasn't started yet.

I asked some questions on Rainmaker's 745 post yesterday before using the mode and reported back and commented how I thought it worked this morning and he's confirmed that I'm correct.

10.8 miles yesterday with 3:13 above 70% lead to no re-calc of VO2 Max.

On Thursday, my VO2 Max dropped in track mode and the run home after in run mode kept the same VO2 Max. My Friday run however took the VO2 max of the run to the track on Thursday. No idea if track is being excluded or something else is going on.

The watch is selling at RRP near enough, £249.90. I paid £205 for the same watch via Wiggle in February, as a comparison.

I wonder how long the strap will last. It's a good deal if it lasts years.

Anyone got any insight into how Garmin's calculate battery % remaining.

I thought it was straightforwards - percentage charge remaining - but tonight's experience says it's not quite that simple. Watch was at 9% when stopped an activity. 30 minutes later it's at 12%, which suggests it also takes into account the power draw? Given the usages of th

oops. ... given the usage of the watch will vary greatly over a full charge -possibly multiple types of activity, different sensors, non-gps and gps activities, lifestyle tracking, playing music, etc etc I don't see how it can work on anything other than % charge remaining.

(temp was relatively constant across the period)

Flanker, if you have been out in the cold then the battery % will go down. When it warms up then it will go up!
