Thanks for your inputs, Fetchies. :-) Almost decided on the FR35 ... but I've gone astray looking at Gumtree, and now ebay. The local ones have mainly been snapped up (the Polar M went in hours) but there are all those other Polars, and Suuntos, and TomToms (very cheap) - could end up as a random old-model gps watch collector :-o

If I hadn't recently both a 245, I'd be seriously tempted by the Coros Pace 2.

SPR, if I was coming in fresh without the Garmin history, so would I.

I would find it hard now to move back to a watch that doesn't have maps, and have the same history issue as flanker. Not to mention I use ConnectIQ custom fields & apps quite a lot.

If I was coming into running fresh, though, and didn't use trails so much...

I'm happy with the 245 TBH but the Coros Pace 2 looks like a steal and would be an obvious upgrade on what I have (I think). Would be interesting to compare.

Oh yeah. I'm not spending a lot of money at the moment and am far too tempted to buy one to play with.

Reading DC Rainmaker's review, it reads like it might end up as one of his recommendations. Certainly seems to give access to multi sport and other features at a ridiculous price.

As a runner though there's nothing that I definitely need/ want from it apart from the track thing which is coming to my Garmin soon.

The interesting question is where it leaves any replacement for the 645 (presumably 655), this product line seems to be out of step with the others which is odd given that the 6 series is positioned as the premium running focussed one. I had a fairly mixed experience with the 645 - the running bits, NFC and WiFi I liked, the barometric altimeter was garbage (worse than guessing) and the strap post broke.

I wonder how well they are selling? I got the impression that the 630 tanked because people buying high end units were going with tri or Fenix units. I wouldn't be completely surprised if it was the end of its line, or its replacement was a 945 replacement clone marketed at runners.

DC's 245 review suggested the 245 essentially took high end running features from the 645 and Fenix 5 which makes the 645 pretty redundant

Maybe pricing can make a 655 more attractive than a 745.
