I have an FR35 and intervals are really easy to set up (or at least a lot easier than they were on my old TomTom Runner, which is the only other watch I've had). HR nice and reliable too in my experience.

My 735XT has been fine so far, got 2nd hand. Only issue has been not getting smart notifications from my phone but I think that was just something in the settings, now changed and it works. Bluetooth and GPS connects really fast and it seems to work fine other than when swimming open water. GPS trace is generally rubbish for that, but that is to do with the time the watch is under water and out of gps range. Any luck looking at Ebay for a recent one or one on sale.

New 745 announced today to replace the 735XT. DC Rainmaker gives his usual in-depth review. In terms of hardware gets a barometric altimeter added, plus lots of software features seen on other watches. It's now effectively almost a 945 without mapping dcrainmaker.com |

@SPR (apologies for delay) - I went back and checked and the runs were under 70%HRR rather than 70%HR(max) - 125 vs 110 - so that may go part way to explaining it. I don't use Runalyze, so no idea what that would tell me.

Runalyze would give you VO2 max to 2 decimal places from Garmin so you could see exactly where the changes happened.

Just seen this on the 745 review: "However, there are a handful of new features here, including a new track recognition mode that nails your track workout’s GPS map to the correct lane on the track, as well as ensuring the distance is virtually identical to what you run." Can they roll this out to all Garmins?! |

Haha, I got too excited after seeing that so I missed the next sentence: "Oh, and fear not, they’re coming to FR245/945/MARQ/Fenix6 units next week in public beta, and then to final/production firmware in a few weeks."

Good to see they are supporting devices all ready in the market with new features.

Indeed. Would have been nice to have it this weekend as I could have given it the perfect test with a setup at my Friday race and then a proper test of accuracy at the Sunday race at the same track.
