My 305 has taken to powering off for no apparent reason, or failing to power up at all. Have done the soft reset with mixed success Have already been down the refurb route, about 12 months ago Is it worth taking apart to look for corrosion? And if there is any is that fixable? Perhaps it's time to look for a long-term replacement. Any suggestions?

R4R - Those symptoms were the sort of thing that led to me cracking open my 305, and find the corrosion that I spoke of on the previous page. Because I found a broken contact, I think it would have been tricky to repair (and certainly not within my capability). If it had been only corrosion preventing good contact, then perhaps, with tiny cotton-bud application of a cleaning fluid, it might have been. Fiddly at best, and then you'll have to be careful with the re-sealing too, as mentioned previously.
I'd be preparing to either replace, or to get another refurb model.

57.5 Degrees of Pain
I see they have stopped refurbishing the 305 in the US. Might try replacing the battery in the modern way, by following a Youtube tutorial

The GPS on my 305 has now stopped working. It can't find any satellites and when I go to the "about forerunner" page it says GPS 0.0. I've had it for years and it's alright apart from that (admittedly it's a fairly important feature of a GPS watch). I've tried resetting it and no difference. Any suggestions or is it time to replace?

Your advice please, good people... My 205 wouldn't upload Saturday's parkrun. As soon as I plugged it in, it said "Sync complete" but it was lying, it hadn't done a bloody thing. I couldn't find the data in any folders on the laptop to upload manually. My Edge 200 is still uploading full data Today I removed the 205 from Garmin connect and re-added it, and it has synced, but without maps. What have I missed? Thank you ta

Oh! The maps have appeared! I don't know if it my constant fiddling, trying to surprise the damn thing into working, or if a satellite wobbled in it's orbit

Bollocks, it all went pear shaped again just after I typed that ^ If it was an issue with Win10 vs Garmin Express, I imagine my edge 200 wouldn't upload either? But it usually does.. Anyone else got Win10 and no probs? (I GE upload races, parkruns & interesting bike rides, manually input everything else which is why the long...pause...between posts)

Well whadda ya know... different cradle and I have data from today's duathlon! Two sets of data - one set from the Edge in my pocket and one set from the 205 on my wrist (so I could see how long I was taking, obv) All good. Well, more good. Have to see if it uploads tomorrow but meantime - as you all were.

Anyone else experiencing issues with Garmin Express not finding your Garmin 305 - it keeps happening, sometimes it works first time, other times is just says that there is no Garmin found.
Any ideas most welcomed before I throw something out of the window

Whenever I have problems with Garmin Express it's usually because they've upgraded the software. Try upgrading it.
