I have a cycling question re the good old 305.
I want to use it with my soon to be purchased turbo trainer. If I buy this ( amazon.co.uk ) I know it will tell me cadence, but I also want to know distance.

Does it do that? Possibly daft question, but I reckon a fetchie will know the answer!!

My 305 has started playing up - 2 distinct problems, which may or not be related

1) If it can't get a satellite fix, it thinks the date is 29-Mar-2016. So the dialogue 'Are you indoors' etc, asks 'Is today 29-Mar-2016?'

2) If I press 'Lap', sometimes I get an error message along the lines 'Error: delete all laps in error', even if history is completely empty

These have only started happening in the last couple of weeks, since I struggled to get a fix in the centre of London and replied 'Yes' to the 'Have you travelled hundreds of miles ...' question.

Anyone any clues?

R4R, have you tried doing a reset back to the factory settings?

andy - I've tried Mode/Lap a couple of times - is that what you mean? Or is there another more drastic reset?

Mine does the same if I travel away from home. It settles down when questions are answered, that is until I travel back home again. It's not been a really troubling issue.

How do I get better maps for my training, then the "Garmin Training Center"?

Garmin Connect has better maps - I think you get a choice (Google maps, MultiMap etc)

It's a bit like Fetch - it's a website where you store your activities.

You need to register, and sign on to upload your routes.
Obviously you need to be connected to the internet to use it, unlike Garmin Training Center which you install on your PC

I believe there may be a way to get better maps for GTC, but I've never pursued it - it may be by subscription
