Once a Sprinter ...
I have just changed my very old 201 for a 305. I can see that it will take me a little while to set it up as I woudl like, but to save me working it out, can anyone tell me if it is possible to set the distance alert to show the split time?

This was one of teh best features of the 201 for me, but not yet figured out hw to do it on the 305

big guy, I'm being harsh because in the last 2 years I've bought a 310xt, a 210 and a footpod. I've had to replace the footpod under warranty, the 210 is having locking issues which may end up with it going back, and I had the 310xt replaced under warranty THREE TIMES.

All fantastic gear when it's working, but I don't trust any of it any more. Every time I turn a watch on, I am worrying whether it will work or not. This is why I have two (and why I slightly regret giving the 305 away when I got the 310)

Once a Sprnter, if you go in to 'Training' in the main menu, then push the 'enter' button on 'Training options' then in to 'Auto Lap', you can set the 305 to take a split after whatever you want it to. Say you set it for every mile, when you hit the mile in your training run the Garmin will beep at you and show you what your split is for that mile.

Should do, anyway :)

A bit late but thanks for the 305 advice, the simple reset worked combined with clearing history.
Cheers

Hi - new to this talking thing, so sorry for my first stupid question, but does anyone know if you can stop the 305 bleeping when exporting routes etc. The bleep seems to be at a pitch that offends my dog!
Thanks

OK guys, hopefully someone can help me... (although I must admit I've not read back through the previous 133 pages to see if this has been answered before)

My 305 has developed an annoying habit of not recognising my HRM strap. This first developed 11 runs ago, where it didn't recognise the HRM. Then it worked fine for 3 runs, wouldn't recognise it for 2 more runs, was ok for 1 run, wouldn't recognise it for 3 more runs, then was ok again this lunchtime.

My first thoughts were it was probably the HRM strap battery, but as the Garmin is only 9 months old and with it being an intermittent fault, I've kind of dismissed that as the cause in my own mind.

Anybody got any ideas?

Hi Nelly - battery on the strap would make sense - no, its not that old to you, but the battery could have been around a while

Do you wet/gel the contacts at all? I find the HRM strap does not work so well now it is colder and I am sweating less. During the summer it works immediately, but normally have to wet the contacts this time of year

Choccy - don't know, never tried!

Longboat - but if that battery was dead/dieing why would it work fine yesterday, but not for the previous 3 runs? Yes, I always wipe wet the contacts. Could it be related to wearing more layers (I wouldn't imagine so).
