yes, the name can be changed. I did mine. Possibly via training centre. Or you could do a hard reset which should take it back to the factory defaults

This might already be common knowledge (haven't Fetched for a while, and this is a LONG thread) but for anyone needing more than 8-9 hours of data recording, there's a thing called a 'Pocket Charger' made by Duracell which uses two AA batteries to feed emergency power into devices using a small micro USB cable. I read a blog where an American used a similar device connected to the cradle of his 305 (with his 305 sitting on it of course) and got 30.5 hours of data recording from his Garmin. The only problem is that the cradle and 305 might not strap onto your wrist unless you have have skinny wrists, but it can be attatched to rucksack/camelback straps or bumbag tops with ties etc. The pocket charger weighs around 140 grams with batteries, plus there's the weight of the cradle (which isn't much).

The item I've seen is the PPS1 Duracell Pocket Charger, sold online in places like WHSmiths for around £14 (tried to get one from their branch intown but they didnt stock it, neither did a few other electrical retailers/camera shops that I popped into)

I for one didn't know that, thanks.

Also it reminds me that Garmin have just started marketing this: buy.garmin.com
which is a gadget made by powermonkey that uses a solar panel or the mains to charge a LiIon battery that you can then use to charge just about any Garmin. Much more expensive than the Duracell gadget, but great if you're going to be away from the mains for a while

ok so i have used the stuff the stuff they advertise there, also known as the power monkey explorer, when i did my race in gobi desert, and it does work.
I had 1 garmin that I was recharging everyday and recharging the 'power nut' while running. I have got to say i was satisfied with it. There is also the power monkey, which is only the solar panel without the 'power nut' (battery) and that wasn't good enough.
The thing to bear in mind is that with the sun exposure in UK, you won't have many days where the sun is strong enough to charge the 'power nut'. However you can charger the 'power nut' just on mains.

I was bought a powermonkey explorer for Christmas this year, and it works really well. Days like today it migth even have enough sun to fully recharge. Might test it tomorrow :)

Thanks Plodder. I've been pondering how to use my Garmin for the GrandUnionCanal race in a month. This might work! Not sure I'd strap the Garmin with cradle to my wrist as it feels quite heavy / bulky (never mind attaching the battery pack).

Sorry if this has been asked before. I've searched but can't find an answer. Since Garmin Training Center updated itself a few weeks ago, every time I plug in my Garmin it gives me the message "Your device has 1 workout(s) that are not in Garmin Training Center(r). Would you like to save them in Garmin Training Center(r)?"
Each time I click on yes but the message keeps on appearing. Any suggestions? (I have tried clicking on 'no' as well)
