Anyone had any battery problems on their unit rather than the strap? I'm now getting under 2 hours on a full charge which is fine for the shorter runs. I do find that I get longer if I charge directly from the mains rather than through usb.

Soomeone did tell me that Garmin simply replace your unit with a reconditioned one for about £60 rather than replace the battery. Can anyone confirm this? I was hoping that it would have lasted a bit llonger as I've only had it for 18 months.

ptb/Izzy - I've also had the usb problems with the unit being recognised. XP is so much better that vista. Roll on Windows 7.

I have had mine close on 3 years and get 11 hours, almost always charge on USB,
I think its just your luck.
I am experimenting with an on the run charger for longer runs, looks like it could work.

Mine is now working fine again, thankfully!

I have given up trying to charge from usb. I think it's to do with the laptop switching to power save, then the watch switches itself on and searches for sats til the battery is dead. Drives me mad. No problem with mains charge for me...

Samson - I don't use Training Centre. But often over a plot or image generally, you can right-click, and "save image", so you can copy/paste to somewhere else that you can print from. Works for plots in Sport Tracks, anyway.

Talking of Sport Tracks - I use the elevation correction plug-in, which makes a huge improvement to the elevation figures and plots versus using the raw GPS data. It's great. BUT - whenever I run and I'm away from home, it tells me that it can't download the data required for the correction. All local runs and near-local are OK, but once it becomes 100-ish miles from home, than I get this problem. Anyone else who uses the elevation correction plug-in see this? Or have a solution?

I definitely don't see that problem. It sounds as though it's not managing to download elevation data at all, but is getting by near home with data it downloaded before.
Do you have the most up to date version of the plugin? It's version 1.5.0.
Also if you look at the settings (settings->plugins->elevation correction), what does it say about the available elevation models?

it's nota problem with ST, it's a problem with NASA!! They're moving and upgrading all the servers that house the elevation data so the plug-in can't find it. The author has promised an upgrade once it's all settled down.

For areas you've run before the plug-in caches the elevation profile data, so it works OK. It's only when you go to a new route that you'll find the issue.

thinking about it .... I don't think I've had the problem in the last couple of weeks so maybe it is already fixed and I've updated the plug-in

*checks*

there was a new elevation correction plug-in released 30/08 for info/download: zonefivesoftware.com

You can see your current version and initiate an update through selecting the plug-ins sub-tree within the setting 'explorer' view in ST
