Perhaps a silly question, but how do I get FRA kitlist into such a small bumbag? Do I just have to splash out on some very expensive light weight waterproofs or can anyone recommend some kit on a modest budget? I\'ve been using an OMM last drop 10l rucsac but want to be able to pack lighter/smaller. Cheers, Al.

Spend! There are tricks though, like just taking a photocopy of the relevant part of the map etc. I have the Montane Featherlite Jacket. Not (too) expensive and very small. Some races they clearly dont check either, though I am not sure how they get away with it. |

What would you use to carry such kit? Turns out I'm now doing the Yorkshireman...

There are varying size bumbags you can buy. It's amazing how kit will pack down if you try for long enough. I think innov8 do a garment that is waterproof top and bottoms that fold up into a bumbag so you can carry the other stuff in them.

I used a bumbag for the Yorkshireman DeeGee (Inov-8 racepack 4??) There were people there who had a very minimal approach to the kit list though, they were carrying nothing. |

If you go to Yeomans or similar you can buy waterproof trousers which have taped seams (important for a serious kit-check) and they pack down into their own little stuff sack / mesh bag and only cost 10 or 15quid. Hat and gloves don't take up much room, similarly whistle and compass

I've done the Yorkshireman half and not carried anything.

So, running jacket, waterproof commuting trousers, buff, gloves, whistle, compass, some kind of foodstuff and a mug, to be shoved into whatever bumbag I can find. Is there any particular high-street retailer which would offer me a decent range of running bumbags? I've never seen them at Sweatshop - would Up and Running or one of those others be better?

I thought Up and Running used to carry OMM kit but I couldn't find it on their web-site just now This theomm.com or similar form Inov-8 should do the job |

Pete Bland's bum bag peteblandsports.co.uk is another very popular (and low cost) option
