Now I don't want to be appear paranoid or a overly sensitive but confusion reigns on the forum.

When people are serious (srrs) others think they are being silly and when people are being silly others take offence. Yet some delight in icons in a kinda 'look kittens' playfulness that comes from not leaving your bedroom on consecutive days.

So I have come up with a partial solution. The real solution is to post in English and to pause before sending your reply - like normal people :-p However as we are runners we are socially inept by design but can follow directions so here is my PatentForumCodeSystem

Silly thread signpost moon
Daft thread kingkong

Angry/ranty/Daily Mail thread dino
Xmas thread decorate

Really serious thread death

There that should sort it moon

(assuming these codes still work )

Ok if I start a thread such as 'Is James a big gay?' if I put a moon then you would know it was silly.

whereas if I added a death I would questioning your heterosexuality > As it happens both would be very rude and you won't catch me doing anything so un-PC death

Surely, Chief, that uncertainty to which you refer is an occupational hazard of frequenting public fora and social networks - and part & parcel of the vicarious fun when someone simply *gets it wrong*.

I think there needs to be a category for "Don't you dare try and make a joke on this thread"

and another one

"Don't you dare try and make a joke on this thread, especially if you are James1982a"

I think my guts are settled now
