The Tinselator
Hi,
No pain whilst running on Sunday and no pain all day Monday until I walked the dogs at around 6.30pm. Pain is not a sharp stabbing pain but a constant pain more like a severe bruise on top of foot from the base of my toes until my leg meets my foot. Area is slightly swollen. Pic to follow, it's my right foot. Any ideas on how to remedy will be greatly appreciated.

Above is a message from a friend who has just started training for first marathon just messaged me about a foot problem that occurred within 24 hours of a ten miler last Sunday. a photo to follow if anyone can shed any light before she sees an expert.

Sounds vaguely similar to what I had earlier this year. I had ultrasound from the physio as well as some massage, but the only thing that really helped was rest. I cut my running right back for about 6 weeks then was able to build up reasonably quickly again.

And in terms of what the issue was, there was worry for a while of a stress fracture, but it was most likely some kind of tendinitis

Thanks CS. I was thinking one of those two myself but am no expert.

It sounds similar to what I had at the start of September. Physio said it was metatarsalgia, an x-ray confirmed I had a stress fracture.
